The Vision 2020 Campaign
We believe there are real remedies to child poverty – solutions that can guarantee that no one in Wisconsin is denied a healthy economic future. If you believe that, too, join with us. Take the Vision 2020 Pledge [link to pledge card form] to get involved. Your organization can join as well.
What is the Vision 2020 Campaign and How Can You Get Involved?
The Vision 2020 campaign is a joint effort of the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families, the Wisconsin Head Start Association and the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association (WISCAP). The Vision 2020 campaign is meant to be a dynamic, interactive, hopeful campaign. Our three organizations have come together to raise awareness about child poverty and its impacts on Wisconsin, to highlight policy solutions and to engage residents, advocates and policymakers in support of policies that will endchild poverty in Wisconsin by the year 2020. We hope to not only share information with you about poverty in Wisconsin, but we hope that you will partner with us to spread the word about the campaign, help shape the campaign and help accomplish the goal of eliminating child poverty in our state by the year 2020. We want your feedback and your participation about the most pressing poverty-related issues in your community and your involvement to help raise awareness about those issues and their solutions locally and statewide.
The campaign is focused on:
- Increasing awareness of child poverty in Wisconsin and its impacts;Discussing and working to implement solutions that address the root causes of child poverty in Wisconsin; Encouraging others in your community and throughout the state to take action; and
- Convincing our state’s policymakers that eliminating child poverty should be their top priority;

Vision 2020 Goals
Our goals are clear:
By the year 2020, we want to eliminate child poverty in Wisconsin. Ambitious? Yes. Impossible? Absolutely not.
The Vision 2020 campaign’s policy goals are focused in four substantive areas that are directly linked to Wisconsin’s children’s healthy futures: family-supporting wages, safe & affordable housing, access to healthcare & nutrition, and early childhood learning. Read the Vision 2020 Report Card: Moving All Wisconsin Families Forward to see the specific goals & recommendations in each of these areas. |
